Lately I've really enjoyed reading Mark's Daily Apple. He's a Paleo enthusiast, and I really like reading what he has to say since it's always straightforward and makes a lot of sense. I've recently learned a lot about listening to my body about what it likes to eat and how to optimize performance, etc.
I learned an important lesson this week - don't work out if you are sick. It's both detrimental to your condition and you're not going to get any typical workout benefits from it either. I worked out when sick on Wednesday and I could absolutely that it did not help things. I was much more sluggish and didn't really feel better as I was leaving (usually you can count on feeling better when you walk out than when walking in).
Rather than pushing myself when my body obviously needs rest and recovery, I took yesterday off and spent the entire evening in bed watching tv and went to bed super early. Already feeling better. Now I just have to keep this sleep thing going over the weekend so I don't relapse.
Interested in what Mr. Paleo does for his workouts? Check it out here. :)
Be healthy!
