The Most Crucial 5 Minutes

Sometimes it sucks having a workout that is scheduled outside your control.  aka. Jazzercise starts at a specific time, whether or not I'm there (unless I'm teaching, obviously :) )  Additionally, being late is not an option.  If you're just 3 minutes late, you miss the warm up... and if you're more than 5 minutes late it'll seriously cut into your cardio. Jazzercise workouts aim to work you up and then down a gradual curve of perceived exertion [photo below], and jumping in halfway really won't give you as beneficial or effective of a workout.

All that being said, whether or not I'm going to make it to my workout really comes down to a very crucial 5 minutes.  I know I need to leave at time X in order to make it to Jazzercise just in time (changing in the car, mind you...), but it seems like there is always some conversation that starts ten minutes before that, and I am unable to get out by X...meaning that I either have to wait an hour and a half for the next class if there is one, or not get to workout at all.

Those 5 minutes are so frustrating because they don't matter to anyone else except me.  If we wrap up at 5:25 or 5:30 it seems the same, so there's no rush or sense of "let's only keep talking if it's an important conversation"...but those 5 minutes mean everything to me since 5:25 means I make it to class and 5:30 means I have to stay at work an extra hour to wait it out for the 7pm class, and not get back to hotel until 8:45 still needing dinner.

Sorry to rant, just wanted to share frustration.

It's Friday, I'm done being cranky. Promise.
