New Year, New Shoes (please?)

Athletic shoes are expensive. That's probably part of the reason that I'm really bad about retiring old shoes.  However, another BIG reason that I'm bad about retiring shoes is because finding aerobic or studio shoes that fit me is impossible.  I finally decided to care more about foot health, protect my knees, etc etc and buy new shoes.  I had my heart set on these super cute ryka shoes which are totally built for Jazzercise.  I was even ready to suck it up and pay the premium for them... until I found out that they don't make my size.  In fact, every single company that I found who made aerobic shoes started their sizing at 6 so I'm outta luck.  SO LAME! :'(

Since I couldn't buy the ryka shoes, I looked at Zappos and found the Nike cross trainers pictured below.  I'm interested to try them out, but I'm not overly optimistic since aerobic shoes and cross trainers are completely different built shoes. For running or cross training your foot lands heel-ball-toe, and you roll your feet forward to move forward... aerobic or studio shoes are build for moving side to side (not just forward) and for landing toe-ball-heel.  Completely different movements than running...so we'll have to see how they do.

The other option is to continue wearing my Capezio Dansneakers since those are both built for dance and come in appropriate sizes.  The only problem here is that when I dance in these shoes I have a tendency to only dance on my toes and not fully land all the way to the heel of my foot.  I'll have to focus extra hard to have good form...

Really, I'm just heartbroken about those ryka shoes.  Maybe I'll just buy crazy thick socks and try to pull off a 6....

best,
Em
